Ward Christmas Party Ideas!?

We are in charge of our wards activities committee and are trying to come up with something for our Christmas Party this year.  It is a family event and centered around the kids.  We did a nice sit down ham/potatoes/salad dinner last year.  Our ward is really big, there are over 100 primary aged kids, there is no stage in our gym which is pretty small and we get really good turn outs to events.  Does anyone have any fun, great ideas for a ward party?? What have wards you've been in done before??  Any ideas would be great - Thanks

Buffy, my hat's off to you! You have a hard calling... but you do so well with it. I'll be thinking... Can we do Santa with pictures in the R.S. room? so sad we missed the chili cook off! I heard it was terrific.

Wow, that is a big job. My favorite has been an open house style: appetizers and goodies in the gym with different musical groups performing (great way to include ward members or people from the community), christmas crafts in a few rooms for the kids, a manger scene display in one, Santa and family pictures in one, etc. Then, everyone can come and go as they would like, and you can end with a christmas carol sing along in the gym. Good luck!!

Have a "sexy costume" competition. It will be the most popular Ward party ever.

Okay, you should have everyone dress up in costumes from the era of the Birth, then have little stations set up in the cultural hall that serve the food. The stations should look like a market in Jerusalem. The food could be like Navajo Tacos. but don't plan enough food so some people are hungry and make them sit on the floor with no tables.Be sure that you have a really long boring lesson and serve orange cupcakes so that there is a mess on everyone's "costumes" hows that for an idea???

A real idea is the Breakfast and caroling thing. our ward here in Mt green does it and it is fun. We have breakfast and then the music leader leads everyone in singing carols. of course ask the primary to help the kids sing some as a program. Easy and fun.

I was just searching for ideas online for ward parties, and I came across your blog. I was just called to the same calling in our ward. I am at a loss, for ideas. We should shoot ideas off of each other. email me - shanphillipp@yahoo.com
